Congratulations to all the Germanics who participated in this year's Goldfest. As you know, Goldfest honors the Anniversary of Ancient World's opening. So it is a special time of fun and games. This year it was decided that the fest would be sponsored by four of the eight worlds: Germania, Hellas, the Orient, and Mesopotamia. All four worlds worked together to make some fun events, and each world did their own as well.
We were very fortunate in Germania to have the Deliver Us From Evil group offer to sponsor a trip through their haunted Drakesheath Manor. What a riot!! Read here for more on the event that took place there.

Germania also had the fun of hosting our dear chain-saw wielding Demigoddess in the Wizard of AwZ Magical Mystery Tour storyline, which was a great way to learn more about each of the four worlds involved. Thanks to Dagmar Sigurdsson and Bree Burgundian for all their help in researching for both the Mystery Tour and the introduction to Gothic architecture we sponsored using information about sites in the French hoods.

Isn't this the dream of us all? Well, living in Norway helps, of course. A family in Tromsø, a town 250 miles north of the Arctic Circle, found some 1,200-year-old pieces of Viking jewellery among their children's playthings and realized what they were after a search on the Internet - I wonder, did they gram a friend at AW? Under their tree-house, like in a fairy tale, the boys discovered a necklace with a dragon motif (yummy dragons!), a medallion and a brooch, later followed by a silver cross, more jewellery, screws and nails.

Archaeologists are delighted with the discovery, which can shed new light on Viking movements and settlements so far North, and will concentrate their studies on the dragon necklace and the medallion. Hopefully we haven't heard the last of it and will see some pictures soon. Remember the name of Tromsø…
