Wanshang hao. Konnichiwa. Namaste.
It's Festival time again! This time it's festival with a difference, though. Only four worlds will be participating: Germania, Hellas, Mesopotamia, and The Orient (naturally). We'll be presenting a four day festival that will run from Thursday, October 20th thru Sunday, October 23rd. Some events will be cooperative efforts put together by participants from all four worlds. The rest of the events will be world specific. Remember, during festival times, final details of all festival events and their locations can always be found in the Orient Festival Guide. This time around we'll be offering the following activities:
Shadows on the River
is an interactive journey between the ancient Vietnamese kingdom of Annam and China. You have been chosen by the king of your homeland to deliver a treaty to the neighboring kingdom. Be careful, though, powerful forces from the north are out to stop you in your quest and prevent the alliance from succeeding.
Who knows what tricks they have up their sleeves? What will you do when you run up against their evil? You decide...with glory or your life hanging in the balance!
This event was written and directed by Aria Murasaka and Lalita Ashoka, with graphic arts by Lalita Ashoka and coding for the web by Sankira Qin. It opens at a festival board near you on Thursday, October 20th, 2005 and will run the length of the festival. (Final location to be announced.)
The Golden Tour
Our featured location on the Golden Tour will be ancient Angkor in Cambodia. This beautiful city was once the jewel in the Khmer empire and it's hundreds of sandstone temples, alluring Apsaras (angels) and sculptures of the gods rise like a dream out of the dense jungle. Educational and exciting, it's a location sure to please any visitor!
Holiday Under the Autumn Moon Quiz
Feiyan Zhou will be presenting a quiz based on Asian holidays and festivals that occur during Autumn. If you know anything about holidays in the Orient...or just want to learn...be sure to stop by and take the quiz! As with all quizzes, you will find this event on the Festival Quizzes thread.
The Manga Kissaten
Shibori Murasaka is opening the Manga Kissaten. She tells us that a kissaten is "a place where people get together to drink coffee and read manga." Shibori's special activity centers around making your own electronic manga "paperdolls". Be sure to stop by and try your hand at decorating your own manga doll!
