An Assyrian king who ruled from 668-627 BC. He was renowned as a ruler who could read and write himself, rather than having Scribes to do the work for him. During his rule, Assyria wasn’t only known for it’s military might, but also its culture and art. In the city of Nineveh, Assurbanipal created a library in which he collected all cuneiform literature available at that time.
