AW Citizen in the Spotlight

Katie MacRoth
Katlyne MacRoth is a well known figure around Celtia, as well as all of Ancient Worlds. With her friendly, flirty side, Katlyne has many times enlivened festivities with her Kissing Booth. Katlyne is also the model of Celtic hospitality with her tavern An Caidreamh Suiri. Be you from near or far, you'll always find a glass raised in welcome at Katlyne's.

Featured Neighborhood

Stonehenge
Stonehenge. The very name conjures images of white-robed Druids conducting mystic rites in the pre-dawn mists of a midsummer's morning. What was this colossal collection of stones? A temple? An astronomical observatory? A seasonal calendar? Quite possibly, all of these… and more!

Celtia welcomes its newest, youngest, member! Congratulations to Vortigern and Victoria Aedui on the birth of daughter Paris. A baby shower has been taking place on the Virtual Celebrations thread on AW's Graffiti Board. Drop by and leave a gift. It will cost you virtually nothing.

In May, Celtia also gave birth to two new and interesting threads. Living in Celtia is devoted to home decor and avatars with a Celtic flair. Celtic Mysteries is dedicated to the myths, folklore, and legends of the mystical, magical Celtic world. Both threads, located on the the Celtia Board are public ones so be sure to check them out!

Summer in Celtia

With summer upon those of us in the northern hemisphere, thoughts go to relaxing fun, to family reunions, and to vacations. This means it's the perfect time to check out the entertainment around Celtia. On the Celtia Board, The Name Game is going strong. Have a great book you'd like to share? Tell us about it at What'cha Readin'?. Feeling more creative? Then perhaps either Poetry Tag or Limerick Corner is for you.

If trivia's more your game, then head to the Mur Ollamhan board. Both Celtia Trivia for Beginners and Celtic Trivia for Experts are located here. Another interesting thread on Mur Ollamhan is History of the Celts.

Looking for family members? Wanting to hold a big summer cookout? Do the Cumhaill want to have a barbeque with Niafer cattle? The perfect place for family gatherings is The Hall of Clans and Tribes. If your family is not represented here, it's easy to create them a place. If you cannot make the thread yourself, one of your friendly Celtia scribes can do it for you or ask me, Bronwyn Cumhaill.

Want to explore far away places for summer vacation? Then take a stroll through Celtia's neighborhoods of Albion, The Distant Realms, Eire and Gaul. Lose yourself in the past without the cost of a real trip! The main thing is to have fun and enjoy Celtia this summer as a great vacation getaway.

SUMMER FUN AT BARDIC COLLEGE by Flidais Niafer
Just in time for Beltane, Bardic College celebrated the promotion of Liath Caledonii to the position of Poet and Co-Leader of the group. From the start, it has been a joy to work with Liath. A skilled song-maker and harper, her knowledge of bardic lore and her gift for inspiring others has brought a happy revival of activity to the group. Some of the new threads Liath has introduced include a game of Poetry Tag,and a bardic Q and A thread. Right now, we are voting to determine who will be the winner of our somewhat monthly Best of Bardic College contest. June's competition was "Magic Words" which received some very clever and well-crafted responses. It will be interesting to see who wins! Currently we are working on developing a writing competition based on a mythic theme for Celtia's Lughnasadh celebration (the weekend before August 1) which will be open to the public, so stay tuned to Bardic College for still more summer fun!

What's New at Ciclipéid Éire na gCeilteach by Fenian Niafer
There have been recent changes in the name and leadership of Celtia's Ciclipéid Éire na gCeilteach (Encyclopedia of Ancient Ireland). Ladee Niall took over as Feighlí in April, polishing up the group and making it shine with her characteristic enthusiasm. Now it's time to congratulate Ladee, who is embarking on a bright new career that sadly for the rest of us will be leaving her with much less time to spend in Celtia. I am back in the Feighlí's seat again, with much gratitude to Ladee for her stellar direction of the group. One of the main points of discussion lately has been the controversy over the construction of a highway which will pass dangerously close to Ireland's most famous royal site, the heart of Temhair (Tara). For the latest news on this controversy and how you can help, visit the Tara/Skryne website. If you have even the slightest interest in the history of ancient Ireland, visit Ciclipéid Éire na gCeilteach. I'm sure you'll find some interesting reading on our boards. Join us this summer as we continue to expand Celtia's Encyclopedia of Irish History!
