The Scribe's Palette is Egypt's own writer's group and wailing wall for those who have encountered that nasty beast....writer's block! Taking time to work through writing exercises as well as playing silly one liner games, the Palette has something to offer everyone - of every skill level.

Egypt is looking for YOU

A great social experiment is beginning in the heart of the Egyptian Neighborhoods. Each hood will be divided up amongst "Nomarchs" or Mayors and it is up to them to cultivate thriving areas within Egypt. Whether it be Historical Discussion of the region, Role Play or merely social banter, the landscape is open for all types of development. The beauty of this arrangement is these groups are "open" and not subject to Membership. Those Novices and Civilians who are limited to one or two groups can come and participate without worrying about resigning from their other groups.

We are currently looking for "Nomarchs" or City Mayors for many regions. Muna Ramesses and Asenath Amenhotep has laid claim to Alexandria/Epsilon and the Royal Palace in Mennefer. Please inquire with myself, Lotus Horemheb or Ankheri Senwosret if you are interested in laying claim to your part of the world!

Ankh

New Scribe for Egypt!

With much celebration and relief on my part, Egypt is grateful to welcome Ankheri Senwosret into the family of Scribes. A former member of Ancient Worlds, Ankheri was coerced back into the fold to help revitalize a growing Egypt. Strong in art and design, she has a knack for creating exceptional graphics, as well as real life photography. In the "good old days" she headed up the city of Bursiris in Role Play, so perhaps would could see a revival in new places to visit and write in!

Egypt in the Modern News

Akhenaten

According to Albawaba news, Dr Zahi Hawas has recently refused permission for the pending film "Nefertiti, Queen of the Nile" to be filmed in Egypt. Based on the book by Ahmad Othman, the movie was to cover the Armana period royals. This is the time where Akhenaten forced the change of state religion from the diety patheon to the single worship of the solar disk, the Aten.

The fued between the project director Hue Hudson and Hawas, stems from the Hawas' assertion that the movie claims Akhenaton is the "Prophet Moses", which lands Jewish claim to their role in the establishment of the great pharaonic civilization. While few dispute the role of Jews in Egypt during the Pharaonic period, to have Akhenaton associated with Moses, or even possibly related, is cause for heated debate.
