Kunjarazdoz The Language Lounge. Germania covers a huge territory and accordingly huge is the variety of languages we are dealing with here, Old Norse, Anglo-Saxon and Gothic, to name but a few... Moreover, the group has a look at the modern derivates of these languages and also offers a place for those who wish to learn and brush up their German. Join us for some great study as we bring this group back into the spotlight!

Amalasuntha Ostrogoth
Amalasuntha Ostrogoth, the owner of the Red Boar Tavern, is our featured Germanic for July. She never fails to open her doors wide and provide fantastic food and drink for every occasion. She puts up with Saxon warriors, one-eyed Gods, wild animals, and lots of barbaric behavior without batting an eye. Thank you Amsalus... Alamuth... Amalasuntha for your kindness and patience!

Ren Faire 2005 is a Hit!

Germanic helmet

We had a great time June 11th and 12th in Germania with our First Renaissance Faire! The weekend was organized by Desdemona Eurimedon who founded the Age of Chivalry group and has hosted jousts and other games before.

Sir Alerissa is first knight!
The Joust of Germania was the big event of the weekend! Congratulations to Alerissa Nestor for her win over our own Beatrix Godwinson, which made her the tournament Champion!! The event was a major feat of organization and technical expertise which was simply dazzling. Read the thread to see the event in all its splendor!

The Great Jester Challenge was an event which was less physically challenging, but caused grief nonetheless! Our Illustrious Tournament Queen, Desi, was chopped to bits, Corny's chainsaw was highjacked by Aelfwine (who WAS punished - never fear!), and general mayhem ruled overall.
Maria Marius, however, is our current Ruler of Mischief with her winning entry, "An Ode to Lard". Congratulations Maria - I think...

Othello

Germania seems to be full of poor louts who can not seem to dress themselves. So, as is becoming a tradition with our festivals, another naked sot needed an avatar and the victim this time was Othello Scylding. Poor guy! Luckily Asenath Amenhotep was available to create a beautiful Coat of Arms for our man, and now he looks fantastic!! Thanks Asenath for taking pity on the poor soul.

Lastly was the better mannered Medieval Poetry Contest . Barbel Gepid's poem The Battlefield caught the eyes of the judges and was awarded the winning plaque. Congratulations Barbel!

Gadding About Germania!

What's up in Germania you ask? Well over at the Red Boar Tavern things are pretty quiet after the big Renaissance Faire. We need someone to buy a round of mead and get Aelfwine all riled up over kittens or some such nonsense...Please come on over for great bread, mead and fun!

The Germanic Trivia Thread is hopping as Eirikr has been posting questions galore! Check it out here and join in the fun!

Anyone who is interested in helping the scribes work with the Hoods, please remember we are looking for Bryti or stewards to help us out. An example is Aelfwine's great articles and upcoming photos and tour info in Ravenna. We love getting the populous involved as this is YOUR world and your input is vital as well as welcome!!
