by Tanaquil Sergius ![]() ![]() Roman Editorial Board: Tanaquil Sergius, editor Calpurnia Caesar, assistant editor Quid Novi? What's New in Rome Things just go on in Rome, as they have always done. The Eternal City just goes on forever. We have passed the 6,000 member line and the Roman World counts 61 groups and we're still going strong. Information on some of the newest groups can be found elsewhere on this page. I would like to wish all Roman citizens a fine summer and if you're going to take a vacation, let it be a good one! Some of the Newest of Groups in the Roman World Love 'em or hate 'em, Sword and Sandal epics and movies are a part of modern cinematic culture. Come talk about your favorite Cleopatra, or ridicule all the historical mistakes you saw! Either way, bring the popcorn and be ready for a good show! Ever wondered what it would be like to take a plane trip to the Roman Empire? Come to the group Sons of Venus, where we discuss alternate history and What If? scenarios based on Roman history. If you like good theoretical discussion, we're your group! 'I, Claudius' is a role play group dedicated to exploring the Julio-Claudian time period in general and the events in the life of Claudius in particular. Using the books I, Claudius and Claudius the God by Robert Graves as a starting point, the group explores fictional events that may well have occurred in the character’s lives, as well as actual events from different perspectives. A group in the Roman World, dedicated to the study of and story writing related to the 'Satyricon', the ancient novel by Petronius and other areas within the Latin Literature. This is a philosophy school and speculations are welcome; they must however be kept in context. This is to say that it can be discussed how a philosophical or scientific doctrine can influence artists, but the paintings of Picasso cannot be discussed. One can discuss preemptive warfare and POW treatment but not Iraq or Guantanamo. ![]() Would you like to see the latest news of your group featured on this page? You can contact the Roman Scribes as well. Roman Ads and Information ![]() Roman Neighborhood Info During the last Springfest, Rome has produced a good amount of very nice and interesting tours and quizzes. The best of these have been added to the various Roman Neighborhoods, which has been considered a good idea by many: thus, we won't 'lose' these beautiful pieces of work by some of our finest weavers and workers in the pile of posts of the Roman World. We will continue doing this in the future, thus adding many valuable pieces of work and information to our neighborhoods. However, this doesn't mean that the neighborhood pages of the Roman World have been filled or are being filled with tours and quizzes! We still need people working on the vast amounts of pages which form the Roman Empire...Elsewere in this Roman Neighborhoods paragraph, you can find the neighborhood list showing who is doing what and what has already been done. There is much much more to do, so come on, you city builders, crank up your efforts and create a beautiful city or place in the Roman World! It's your Roman Neighborhood World!
