SOMETHING FROM THE AEDUI!
In the depths of an ancient well, you have found a number of items which appear to have been used as sacrificial offerings to the Gods. Frequently, items such as weapons or jewelry would be ritually "killed" or broken, before offering them to the Gods. Another method of "killing" was to drown the object in a river, lake or sacred well.
The wild boar is the Tribal totem of the Aedui. It symbolizes strength, intelligence, and ferocity in combat. This particular image may have graced the top of a battle standard, with colorful ribbons or streamers attached to the holes in the back. This was one way to identify friend from foe in the midst of a melee. Both the totem animal and the color of the streamers identified the rallying point for the clan warriors.
