Springfest

Spring will soon be here! Many of us are looking forward to the warmer weather, the reappearance of leaves on the vines and trees, and SPRINGFEST here at Ancient Worlds. The dates for this year's festival are April 23 to May 1, 2005, with Hellas' day being Friday, April 29. A couple of the highlights in Hellas will be a tour of the Temple of Artemis at Ephesus and a souvenir shop with contributions from various members of the site. This year's festival is dedicated to Artemis, so watch out for deer roaming around the neighborhood! (And speaking of pets, rumor has it that Hellas will soon have its own mascot, an owl with a taste for world travel, and a close friend of Bao Bei the Panda.)

ATTENTION ALL GROUP LEADERS IN HELLAS! If you are interested in your group sponsoring a contest or event, please contact either of our Hellas scribes. This is a wonderful opportunity to spotlight your group and recruit new members.

Women's History Month

Palace LadiesMarch is Women's History Month! Come join the celebration at the Feminalia: the Celebration of Ancient Women thread. There will be a quiz to test your knowledge of some of the great women in Greek history. In addition, several group boards feature ongoing board/thread discussions regarding women in the various time periods and regions of Hellas.

Neighborhood News

If you have not visited the neighborhoods in Hellas lately, you may wish to take a look at what is new! In the Macedon neighborhood there is a new thread called Ask the Gorgon. "Deep in the dark forests of Macedon, close to the foothills of the north slope of Mount Olympus a great gorge cuts through the earth. The steep cliffs fall a thousand feet to a roiling white water torrent below. There are no trails, descent is only by an arduous climb using sharp hand and footholds. Few go there as it is here that the a cave is found which the Macedonians call, Gorgon Spilaio, Gorgon Cave." It is a thread for questions and answers about Macedon and Alexander the Great. Thank you, Kallistos Alexandros, for this wonderful idea! Be sure to check it out!

For more information on what is happening in the Hellas neighborhoods, please see Alerissa Nestor's post 'Hood Update.
