by Tanaquil Sergius
![]() ![]() Roman Editorial Board: Tanaquil Sergius, editor Calpurnia Caesar, assistant editor Quid Novi? What's New in Rome This issue will reveal some exciting forecastings on the upcoming Roman Springfest Event! We also have some news from the groups area: the edition of a new group on the Venetian Republic by Marduk Hammurabi, who is the Doge of this new asset to the Roman World! For more information, see below in the Group News. Rome has currently passed the number of 5500 members! This calls for a well earned congratulation to all of those who are making the Roman World a cool place to be. For the updates on the Neighborhood building work, check the link that is given in the Roman Ads and Information. And of course, we have found a few interesting articles related to Roman Life for all to read! Enjoy this Roman Acta Page! Ancient Worlds' Springfest in Rome: a preview We are already thinking of the next Roman Springfest 2005! The event will take place, as things are now, on April 27th and we plan to start at about 11.00 am AW time. Because the founding date of Rome, April 21st, has just passed by then, the main subject of the festival will focus on the theme of The Founding of Rome. Guess what a band of enthused Romans has been cooking up for festival ideas so far: ![]() A 'Founding of Rome Trivia Contest', a 'Circus Maximus Horse/Chariot Race', a Roman Article Contest (open to any historical, archaeological and religious/philosophical articles related to Roman culture), a theatre play on the Founding of Rome, The Idiot's Guide to the Founding of Rome, The Roman Menu Contest and, of course, a scavenger contest with probably some Roman King as the central player and victim! These ideas are now being worked out, but as soon as a new Roman Springfest thread has been created, be sure to keep track on the proceedings of the festival programme! Roman Ads and Information News on the AW European Convention By the time you read this, the place for the EC will be known! The event will take place in September, 2005. At the moment, an organisation team is being formed and the first operational issues are being worked out, such as a specific date for this four day event! Stay tuned..... ![]() Roman Neighborhood Info For an update on the Roman Hoods Report, check this link. Would you like to be a Roman Neighborhood or city builder? Please, check one of the provinces that still need to be worked on and contact your Roman Scribe Tanaquil Sergius! For a special Tour of the Roman Neighborhoods, see: Iter, Caesar's Journey, by Calpurnia Caesar, Cyhiraeth Volcae and Senex Caecilius! Roman Group News ![]() Venezia is a brand new group in Rome, dealing with historical facts, discussion and role play about the Merchant Republic of Venice, one of the most powerful nations in Renaissance Italy. The group is lead by Marduk Hammurabi and momentarily under construction. If you want to join this group or if you have good ideas for it, click on the link and have a look! ![]() On February 19th, 2005 AD, the Ancient Mysteries Group held a Murder Mystery Party on Rome's Contest Board in the Subura! The participation in solving the alleged murder of Phenom Leonidas was good and plot, proceedings and presentation were a success! ![]() Arachne's Web has been busy with members teaching and learning new ways to spice up their posts and homes, like the many excellent tips posted by Aria and others inside Music for the Masses! or the new HTML Quiz. Also, Ladee has broken the ice for the new group plaque challenge inside Graphics Challenge thread. ![]() Respublica Septimontiana is a new and unique group here at AW, to the best of the group founder's knowledge, the only one of it's kind! The motivation behind its formation is to assemble personalities here in AW who would like to see Rome's ancient culture revived in a modern form in a physical setting. In other words: a micronation. But, at Respublica Septimontiana, REAL nation-building is being practiced. Please, stop by and see what we are all about. If you do not necessarily want to pack your bags and move to the New Rome, we still would like your input! ![]() You guessed it! Yet another roleplaying group here at AncientWorlds: Pax Inter Pares! Don't sound so lethargic when you say you'll take a look! In only one month we have managed to wrangle more than 20 members! What's the hook, you ask? Well, you know that old saying about 'crossing the Rubicon?' It is almost the same thing. In our game, Caesar did cross. Only this time, instead of a civil war leading to the Empire, our alternate history has Caesar and Pompey patch their differences! Ridiculous, right? Well, its just a game, remember! Imagine what Roman history would look like if things had just evolved a bit differently? Mass hysteria! You know you wanna get in on it, so stop by before all the good roles are taken!
