Germanic News and Notes

THE HOODS ARE OPEN!!

Wow - it has been a wild couple of weeks as your hard-working scribes have hunkered down, with the help of Eirikr Knudsson and Norvegicus Lupus, to re-design the Neighborhoods of Middangeard and The Varangian Way. When we learned the Hoods would be opened the beginning of September for inhabitation, it became apparent we had a LOT of reorganization to do to make it possible for members to have a place to live. Luckily Germania is blessed with some great citizens and friends who jumped in and helped with this huge project.
Though there is still a lot of work which needs to be done decorating and fleshing out all the new Lands and Realms and Cities, the Neighborhoods of Germania are better organized in a way that makes more sense and will be easier for new members and old alike to navigate. Again, thank you to Aelfwine, Dagmar, Anarane, Eirikr, Norv (Our adopted Varangian Expert!), Shanti Ashoka, Bree Burgundian,Heraklia Aelius, and Cornelia Cornelius for making all these changes possible in such a short amount of time.
For a full list of Germania's Lands, Realms, and Cities and who is working on them, check out this
THREAD HEADER. Also, if you see a place you would like to adopt, remember that if you move in at the City level, you are eligible to be appointed as the Bryti of the City or even that Realm. Just let one of the Scribes know you are interested (links to Scribes are below).

GOLDFEST 2006 PLANNING UNDER WAY

It is that time of year again - GOLDFEST is being planned for October 2006! Germania has chosen Thursday, October 26th for it's day of festivities. Our theme this year is the Wild Hunt, and so far we have planned these activities:

SURPRISE EVENT (TBA later)- Scribes
GERMANIA BALL - Odin
WILD HUNT - Aelfwine, etc
QUIZ - Beatrix
WILD HUNT CROSSWORD - Aelfy
BRISINGAMEN DECORATING CONTEST - Ulv, Anarane
TRASHING THE RED BOAR - Everyone!!!

As we get closer we will be in need of more help. Bree Burgundian has already volunteered to help with plaques (THANK YOU!) and I think Eirikr will help with research, but if anyone wants to help now, please contact the person in charge of the event you are interested in and they will definitely put you to work!

Germania Trivia

Want to get a cool plaque to show off? Have a ton of interesting Germanic trivia stuck in your brain? Well, here's a way to show off both! Starting with this issue, each ACTA we will post a topic for the next issue of the ACTA DIURNA. If you come up with a piece of Trivia for that topic, e-mail it to Anarane and THREE (3) facts will be drawn from the pool received and posted in the following ACTA Issue (even if it is a duplicate of another fact drawn). ONLY E-MAILED TRIVIA WILL COUNT! Those members whose Trivia is posted will receive a plaque to put in their homes! All members of Ancient Worlds are eligible to play, but only ONE entry per member per issue, please! Make your entry stand out, find out something that really makes everyone say GOSH, Who Knew?
