Discussions of the science of the cosmos as described in the Vedic literature. The Vedic literature is loaded with knowledge of the cosmos. In the Shrimad-Bhagavatam or the Bhagavata-Purana 5th canto part 2 can be found large quantities of information concerning planetary orbits along with precise distances between planets. These distances are given as a measurement known as the yojana. A yojana, according to the representatives of the disciplic Vaishnava order all through history, is equal to 8.5 miles. Given this distance in the Vedas, these measurements exactly equal that of the modern astronomical calculations of the distances between planets. It is therefore hard for me to see how the modern view of the ancient peoples is that of a primitive nature at all. I find it amazing that modern scientists totally disregard the absolutely perfect scientific knowledge found throughout the Vedas simply because they cannot see with their imperfect eyes what is going on in the greater universe. Just because we cannot see something, that does not mean that no one has seen it. In order to get knowledge outside the range of this realm, one must approach the person who knows from experience about the other realm in question. As with anything else, how can one attain a desired result without following the proper method or recipe? To learn medicine, one must approach a bona fide doctor of medicine and study from him submissively, not trying to make up his own way of medicine. Therefore, one cannot interpret the writings of Shrila Vyasadeva, trying to find meanings for himself. What he wrote is what he meant. He is the bona fide authority on the Vedic literature, having compiled it himself. But the science behind it all, based on modern techniques, is simply awesome!!!
