ITCHING
Remedy: Wild Carrot ![]() image 144301 Wild Carrot (Daucus carota) is also known as Queen Anne's Lace. This plant is in the Parsley (Umbellelliferae) family. The wild carrot has many medicinal properties. Its versatile seeds act as a stimulant, contraceptive and carminative, and are allegedly helpful in treating flatulence, hiccups and windy colic. The Celts were very fond of the plant, which grows in great abundance throughout the British Isles. In fact, the word "carrot" is Celtic for "red of color." The Celts also referred to this wildflower as faerdynghwydd which means "fart blossom." For itching, just mash up the root and apply it as a poultice for almost instant relief. Remember, the wild carrot or queen anne's lace has a deadly lookalike - Water Hemlock! To be sure you have the right one, look for a tiny red flower in the middle of the white lace. |
