It is so obvious that Enkidu is worth fighting for. The miniature sword twinkles at you, beckoning you to come forward. The closer you come, the more detail is seen in the sword. It stands on end inside the bowl and the blade looks to be made of lapis lazuli. The hilt is the same with silver inlay and you cannot understand why it isn’t tarnished.
The doctors are busy arguing with each other in a corner. They pay you no mind and so you reach out your hand. Inches away, you pause and look once more toward your mentor, Dr. Rawlings. She is too engrossed with her fight and doesn’t see your fingers curl around the sword.
You pull your hand back quickly when you realize the lapis blade is razor sharp. It takes a bite out of your index finger and a drop of your blood enters the bowl. You vow to pay closer attention and reach for the sword more carefully.
“Stop! Don’t touch that sword!” Dr. Rawlings yells at you. But, it’s too late. Even though you haven’t touched it a second time, a loud “click” fills the room.
“My blood.” you say as you hold your injured hand up to show them the wound. “A drop fell into the bowl and must have triggered something.”
Gears whine as they turn and Dr. Moony yells, “Everyone out!”. But, no one makes it before an eerie silence fills the room. Then, sound erupts around you and before your eyes go dark forever, you see the foot-long miniature swords flying from slots in the walls. You die knowing it was your mistake which took Dr. Rawlings and Dr. Moony with you.
