Information on different member levels and their benefits

Different member levels are an important way to distinguish between different levels of participation to AncientWorlds.

Membership

Registering

Registering as member of AncientWorlds and access to many of its benefits and discussions is completely free of charge. Go to the Registration page and first submit your email address. Check your email for the password that has now been sent to you. If the password has not arrived after 10 minutes, check that you typed your email address correctly. You can return to the page on which you can submit your address by clicking "Use a different email." Submit the password you have received and choose your name. Notice that the choice of last name determines the "region" of AncientWorlds you are going to be a member of (Rome, Hellas, Egypt, Mesopotamia, Celtia, Germania, The Orient, or The Americas).

The password that has been sent to your email address will serve as your password until you change it. Do not give your password to anyone, and note that the AncientWorlds staff will not ask for your password.

Old AncientSites Members

If you were a registered member of AncientSites, you can retreive your old persona name - it has been reserved for you at AncientWorlds. When registering, submit the email you used to retreive your password and newsletters from AncientSites. This way you will only have to use one of the passwords of one of your persona, and you are re-registered to this site!

Member Levels

Different Member Levels

There are six different member levels at AncientWorlds, three of which are subscription only. The level of a member is indicated on the plaque at the member's home, his or her position on the PeoplePanel, as well as a coloured asterisk before his or her name on the PeoplePanel as well as every post he or she has written. You can find a list of different member level benefits and priviledges, as well as information on subscribing to become a Patron, here.

The first day a member logs in, his or her member level will be Dayling. For the next 30 days of logging in, the member level of the new member is Novice. After this, the member has reached the member level of Citizen.

To proceed to higher member levels, a subscription to Patron is required. One can subscribe already at the level of Dayling or Novice. There are three different types of subscription, or "patronage:" Maximum, Optimum, and Millennium. All these types receive basically the same benefits, but the higher the subscription level, the higher the quantity or quality of a benefit. For details about subscription and full information on the different benefits of different member levels, see the Subscription page.

AncientWorlds Staff

Several Scribes are appointed annually for each city, and serve the main contact for registered citizens of their community. Their tasks are to assist the demigods in making people feel welcome, and facilitate their involvement in discussions. Their tasks include welcoming newcomers and steering them towards appropriate activities, and acting as a friendly and welcoming presence. Please note that although grams are limited, you can still send and receive grams from the Scribes and Demigods after you have reached your limit. The Scribes and Demigods can always be contacted at their homes as well - see the page for AncientWorlds Staff.

Demigods are the main contact for citizens, and as such, play a key public relations role. They negotiate and resolve requests and help ensure that all installed equipment and software is functioning. They generally supervise and coordinate the scribes' activities, and are a resource for all citizens seeking to more fully understand the features the site offers..

The highest member level, Cybergod, Cybergods, a phrase coined back in the mists of time by a group of citizens puzzling out the intricacies of the CD ROM and online game, "S.P.Q.R," are the founders and architects of AncientWorlds. Their task is to develop and maintain all aspects of the site and programing of new features - truly a task for the divine!
