![]() "If any man or nation shows a desire to obey the Law of the Great Peace, they may trace the roots to their source, and be welcomed to take shelter beneath the Tree." Before the Declaration of Independence, before the Constitution, before the Magna Carta, there was the Great Law of Peace. Beneath this tree, the world's first democracy was created, based on the concept that peace is the will of the Creator and is the ultimate spiritual goal and natural order among humans. It is a natural law. The Path of Peace was adopted by a Confederation of warriors who buried their weapons here, and a Tree of Peace was planted on that spot. The branches of that tree shelter all who commit themselves to Peace. At the top of the tree sits the far-seeing Eagle. The roots of the tree, the "white roots of peace" reach out in all four sacred directions. The idea that peace was a possibility was as radical a notion in that time as it is now. Yet the Faithkeepers maintain this, even today, with their vision focused seven generations ahead. What will the world be like then?
