Un-Hallowed Hallas

This month, we feature a halla that would never be described as "Hallowed":

Bane

Bane Welf: Vampiress Extraordinaire!

The editors would advise you to think twice before clicking this link, ask Anarane about that...if you can find her.

Germanic News and Notes

Valentine's
Reported by Attila The Hun
VALENTINE'S WEDDING
Attila The Hun, aka The Scourge of God, got married during Valentines and invited a long list of people to attend his wedding party.
There was a mass wedding held and he took on no less then five brides. The beauties Elenwe, Elgiva, Taysat Wesir, Selma and Desdemona were the ones to wed the insatiable Hun(k).

His wedding ceremony was followed by a great reception ball to which people from all the lands, near and far, attended.
There were horse sacrifices, plenty of awards given out to all attendants. Aside from a great night of drinking, partying and romance as well as plenty of games for one and all.

The wonderfully talented Sementawy Horemheb put together an absolutely brilliant Valentines Quiz, with a twist. It was of course not your run of the mill everyday Valentines Quiz.
She brought to us Germania's Fat, Bald & Ugly Nickname Quiz!

Elenwe also put together a great article about Valentines Day Etiquette. It was called “Valentines Day - Love from the Heart”. It is packed with great graphics as well as wonderful tips on how to write love letters to your beloved.

And last, but certainly not least, she also put together our “Valentines Day Jigsaw Puzzles”. A series of puzzles that were absolutely brilliant.

Germanic Archaeology News and Fun

It was a dark and stormy night, when I, Anarane Burgundian, set out to interview Bane Welf for the Archaeology portion of this edition of the ACTA. Bane is a vampiress who happens to crave the taste of my own blood. So I thought I was pretty brave to do such a thing. Bane is a great fan of Anne Rice's books and is also a member of the group Children of the Millenia, which honors and studies these scary tomes. It was in joining this group that I met the beautiful Bane who has not only chased me all across the Ancient Worlds, but has also educated me further about the Rice books. We met in a dismal field near a road (so I could run away at a moment's notice) sitting on opposite sides of a rickity picnic table where I asked her the following questions. She answered them, only licking her lips on occasion. Caveat: I lovingly stole these questions from the host of the television program Inside the Actor's Studio which he stole from someone else...so I felt the precident had been set.

1.What is your favorite word?
My favorite word? Hmmm…I am fond of my name, mind you this wasn’t my given name. Once I accepted it, I couldn’t remain myself. Bane can be neatly paired with other words to create misery and woe. Henbane, wolfsbane, dragonsbane…I supposed I liked the sound of it. Don’t you?

2. What is your least favorite word?
Least favorite word? Dearest Anarane, your questions really must be more engaging, but for now I shall indulge you. I haven’t so much a word, but a phrase, “Kill the Devil’s spawn.” I wasn’t spawned nor do I know of the devil. Just because I drink blood doesn’t make me an evil person nor should it reflect my desire to live. Yes, love, I know a bit funny with the wording, but you understand I am most assured. I blame the society for my way of life now. So it’s appropriate to repay the debt I feel. The name fits.

3. What turns you on creatively, spiritually or emotionally?
Oh, dear an interesting question and one I can answer simply! A pulse can answer all three inquiries. Just to feel that throbbing vein beneath your teeth right before you plunge in is just so charging in more ways than one! The emotional part gives way to the creativity…and mmmm…it’s hard to hit the spiritually… but generally it comes after the creativity. Vampires aren’t picky about the partners as long as they are beautiful, if you get my meaning, lovely one. Remind me to demonstrate that later…

4. What turns you off?
The sunlight most definitely turns me off. I don’t need to explain that one…

5.What is your favorite curse word?
Curse word…I shall have to think about that one. They have changed so much over the last centuries…

6. What sound or noise do you love?
A nice soft growl or whimper for release or mercy, just tickles my extra sensitive preternatural sensories!

7. What sound or noise do you hate?
Mobs are so noisy and having someone spouting prayers at you before you have enough proper time to even rise! The indignity I tell you! Never once I have taken a sleeping victim willing or not. Sure I may impose a bit of my will compelling them to come to me, but it’s their free will to come to me or not! I am blameless, especially if dinner is dumb enough to poke his or her nose into my resting area.

8. What profession other than your own would you like to attempt?
Profession other than being a vampire? Are you mad! Vampirism suits me quite fine, once you get over the change.

9. What profession would you not like to do?
Sweet, sweet, Anarane, what did I say about these questions?! My patients are about run out, you sitting there all adrenaline spiked. I can hear your pulse calling to me…Fine! I shall answer your question. Being a lifeguard, the sun would just be horrific…Besides, I am an anti-lifeguard, am I not?

10. If Heaven exists, what would you like to hear God say when you arrive at the Pearly Gates?
You make me laugh! This question is to make up for the last one? Not sure “heaven” or “God” have much to do with me, even if they did exist…I haven’t met the Devil so how can one say “God” exists? Lovey, must you sit there on the end of your seat, with your bosom heaving so at me? It’s a distraction and won’t so much get me to answer your questions any fasters. I could use a snack you know. Besides, ”God,” I don’t think would have much to say. I never was part of his flock. Much more barbaric…those gods might say something to the effect of, “Great…what do we do with this one?”
