Let's celebrate the Haustblot!
dateline: Aug 21, 2003 - 17:39

It's festival time in Germania again! From 10 to 12 October, we are going to celebrate the traditional Viking fall festival - and for that reason Germania needs YOU! Help us with your suggestions, ideas, graphic skills, whatever. You are most welcome to post here. For more details, please read the full article.

Originally, the Haustblót took place at the equinox, on 23 September that is. But as this festival will be part of the sitewide anniversary cruise of the Golden Phoenix we took the liberty of adjusting the date a little for our purposes... The Germanic port of call for the cruise will be Hedeby, also known as Haithabu or Haddeby, which means that we are going Viking! This venue - once one of the major Viking trading places - should offer a great variety for all kinds of activities. After all, the Viking loved games! So, if you have any suggestions to make in that direction, please do post them!

Hnefatafl and knattleikr

I think we should definitely have a game of Hnefatafl going on, or at least instructions available for those who are interested in playing at home. There are also many sports played by the Vikings which could be fun for our festival. I know I'd be up for a game of knattleikr.
