- "Histories of History" - Discuss Roman Historiography, Especially Ancient
A discussion on Histories of History has been started recently at the Fundamina Romae group. The idea is to discuss the classical historians, for example credibility and style, as well as more modern historiography. Do pay a visit to the board and add to the discussion!
- Cults of the Roman Military
An interesting and active discussion of Epona on the Cults of the Roman Military section of Religio Romana.
- Pax Romana (27 BC - 193 AD)
Please be sure to check out Pax Romana, a new Roman history group at AncientWorlds!
Rome has many wonderful theme-based Roman history groups, but we also wish to foster discussion on events and time periods. The idea is that theme-based discussion is conducted in groups already in existence (such as groups for Roman law, or arts, or religion), but the Pax Romana is the second group (in addition to the Aedeis Divii Julii group) in a series of about four groups that will cover all the time periods of Roman history!
- MORE Roman cooking
For those with consuming (ack! Call the pun police!) interest in ancient cookery, check out Josephia Flavius’ latest contributions to Vita Feminea Antiqua’s thread about Ancient Cookery. From Apicus to sauces to Roman measurements, our Jo has certainly done her homework per usual. Her four posts, done appropriately enough on Easter Sunday, (is there anyone STILL hungry?) can be found On This Thread.
- Aztec does Roman names!
- New Group in Rome
and this one deals with women in antiquity. It's historical with some rp, and it's not limited to Roman women. The group, Vita Feminae Antiqua, was started by Roma's very own justina Cassius, and although at the time of my writing, it's about half an hour old and already attracting citizens! Come take a look at VFA!
- Let's Talk Tacitus
Over at the Brittania group, there is a very lively discussion going on about Tacitus, and a mention of the Gask Project. Interest piqued? You want to know just what the Gask Project is and what they are saying about Tacitus? Go check it out:
Tacitus Discussion
- Visual Arts and Music
A new group for discussion on visual arts (paintings, mosaics, sculpture), music, as well as pottery and glass has been started: Ars Romana. It is under construction at the moment, but will most certainly be one of the most interesting Roman history boards!
- Roman Women and Housing
Two new, interesting discussions have started on the Subura board and added to the Roman History listing: Women in Antiquity and Roman Housing. These topics have been there only for a couple of days now, but already gathered a lot of interest. Do check them out!
- The Evolution of a Dictator
Julius Caesar had enormous impact on the history of Rome. His assassination basically ended the Republic, and paved the way for the Imperial Regime.
At one of our most popular groups, Aedes Divii Julii, there is a great discussion going on about J.Caesar. Check it out, and pay particular attention to the posts about Caesar's Populares roots, like this one from Cimon Aristocratos.
- Roman State Religion
There is a very interesting discussion starting on Roman State Religion at Religio Romana. I would especially like to point out this post on Greek and Roman (religious) festivals in March by Josephia Flavius. Very interesting and comprehensive - check it out!
- Roman Cooking- in house link
At the Subrostrani group right here in Rome, the members have started a board for Roman cooking. Although it has just begun, I'm sure it will soon be loaded with recipes, links, tips, etc.
