The Alexandria Library will be offering official resource plaques to top web sites and local favorites that are chosen as Library References.

    • One of My Favorite sites

This site includes resources, both text and graphics. This site is my choice for favorite links. Thank you AzureEyes! You are just full of great ideas, the library of Alexandria not the least of them.

    • Submissions Request

Chiefs Hapshetsut and Ceres have submitted some of their choices for Official Library Resources. So have Goddess Heraklia and Asst. Director Louisa.

Chiefs, your Sections are growing by the day. Have you five sites (either a total of five, or five from AW, and five from elsewhere) that you consider to be your Top Picks? Please share those sites that you just can't live without!

    • Yes to Ancient Expressions

Hap, Egypt's premiere language group certainly fits the bill as an Official Library Resource. Thanks for your submission.

    • Another suggestion

Even though it is in its infancy, I'd like to suggest Ancient Expressions, a board focused on the study of written and spoken communication in Ancient Egypt.

We hope to have it open for 'business' very shortly :)

    • Thank you for your submissions, Heraklia and Louisa

        These too are excellent choices!

Step forward Librarians, with your pics for those top 5 web sites (local and world wide), that fit the bill as Official Resources for Ancient Worlds' Alexandria Library.

I have been quite busy rendering the Resource plaques, Member cards, Patron cards, and Librarian cards. Want them all to look "just so".

    • Two More from Athens

I would like to add Philos Sophia and The Evolution and Legacy of Classical Greece groups to this listing of possibilities as well.

    • What a wonderful idea!

Kudoes to the Alexandrian Library for taking a leadership role in this . . . NOT to mention, perfectly historical, as the Library was the great resource of the ancient world for all cultures and all learning!

May I add a few more thoughts, perhaps less confined to the eastern Mediterranean, in addition to those already mentioned? All of these IMHO, have already established their credentials as a learning resource at AW. There are new ones in development as well, but I can't list everything!

        Angelcynn - Anglo-Saxon England (Germania)

Hugrunar: The World of the Vikings (Germania)

Aedes Divi Julii: Julius Caesar and His Times (Note: This is a group I'm very involved in, but I offer it humbly for consideration anyway)(Rome)

        Religio Romana - Rome

Mt. Olympus - great mythology resource in Athens

The Ages of Bronze and Iron - Athens

Women of the Two Lands - Egypt

        Encyclopaedia Babylonica - Babylon

        Celtic Law - Celtia

Encylopaedia Celtia - England Edition - Celtia

MP is developing its Academic Centers, so nominations for them shall probably come next time. However, it's current public board, Land of the Four Quarters, is chock-full of Inca history and social information.

        Again, excellent concept!

    • Thank you for your submissions, Ceres

        Excellent choices!

How about you other Librarians? What sites would you choose to receive our official resource plaque?

    • Humbly Submitting Her Favorite V Candidates for the Plaque

        From Babylon:

Encyclopaedia Babylonica which serves as “A reference book and discussion area for all things Mesopotamian.”

        From Rome

Opus Sectile - a “Center for the study of Roman Architecture.”

        From Egypt:

Architectural Methods which asks ”How did they build that?” with a focus on building and construction methods in Ancient Egypt.

Women of the Two Lands which explores “The role of women in ancient Egypt” - including “…those women who found their way to positions of power and importance in the Two Lands of Egypt.”

And (and I apologize for my partiality with this one):

Seven Wonders where we Discover, Explore and Discuss the Wonders of the Ancient World. Although categorized as a “General Group” in Egypt, Seven Wonders has discussion topics for almost every Board … except for the ones where the Bazaars and Bars are. (g)
