THE RULES
Colonia Augustorum Horse Race - October 22nd - 6.15pm EST
1. All contestants should be mounted on *horses* (no llamas!) Local horses can be purchased and local riders can be hired to ride them if you prefer.
2. The judge shall adjudicate the race and his word is LAW.
3. No starting until the judge gives a blast on his aurochs horn.
4. The course runs along the track leading away from the town, into the forest, down the hill to the river, across the ford, up the hill through the pine trees, back out into the open country and back through the town. It is three Roman miles long in total.
5. The use of weapons is encouraged. Actual deaths may lead to disqualification, however. Light wounds are permitted.
6. Contestants should avoid being too drunk.
7. Betting is encouraged.
Remember - the race starts at 6.15pm sharp!
