Curled in a ball, shivering
huddled against the window pane
mist chilling my spine
unnoticed
She said she helped you through
the silence
to reach the other side
burning eyes hollow
unfurling from the fetal position
I knew the pain in her eyes
when she spoke of seeing you
rocking
clutching at whisps that
faded with the chilled breeze
at midnight
when even fire
glitters
in shades of ice
