If I was to talk of all the things I liked in the movie I could wrire for hours and hours. But since I can't do that I'll just talk about the first things. that come to mind.

I thought the rendering of the Ents in the movie was just wonderful. When treebeard first appeared he was all I thought he'd be, and then when the scene where all the ents march down to Isengard...well all I can say is wow. This trilogy never fails to make me quite inarticulate. Anyway, before I start sounding like a madwoman rambling on about the ents I'll change the subject.

I'll also agree with what Dravidia said about Cate Blanchett and the comments someone else made about Liv Tyler. Both were great. Although it's true that the costumes and makeup/lighting (plus additional digital alterations) had a key role in transforming the actresses into the ethereal elves their performances were most excellent, especially Cate Blanchett's.
