Honorus acting legati legionis of the VII Gemina

As requested by our new Imperator Gaius Julius Verus Maximinus Augustus, I have escorted the 5000 new recruits that the emperor has levied to the VII Gemina Legio ~ Cohortes II, Castellum at the Emporiae, Tarraconensis, Hispania.

The new recruits are made up of 2000 Gaesatae’s, if your not familiar with this term it means (mercenary) in Celtic and these warriors have been fighting throughout and outside of the empire.
But their commander requested enlistment into the legion for his entire 2000, they and are known to be good fighting men and loyal.
I believe any training required will be minor such as in standard Roman formations.
The remaining recruits are made up of 1000 Arverni, 1000 Tarrbelli, 500 Tarusates and 500 Aquitani.

The recruiting officer is sending 3500 recruits under command of my prefectus Parsius west to Caesaraugustus, Tarraconensis for cavalry training (2000 Gaesatae’s, 1000 Tarrbelli and 500 Tarusates). The second group of new recruits was assigned to the VII Gemina Legio ~ Cohortes VI garrisoned at Toletum for siege and ballista training. (500 Aquitani)
I will be escorting this group south on my way to meet the acting Vicarius of Hispania.
The third and final group was assigned to Legio, Tarraconensis for infantry training, this group is made up 1000 Arevni. The escorting officer Decurio Tesantius Averius is of the same Celtic tribe as the 1000 Arverni new recruits and there are 450 veterans among his group.

There is a group of some 50 deserters from the XXII legio that attacked the estate of the kinsman of Decurio Averius in Aquitani. Since their desertion they having been moving as a small military unit taking what they want, when they wanted it.
At the present all I know is that these Celtic deserters are from NW Hispania and had a blood feud with the Arverni Celtic tribe here in Aquitania for centuries.
That some of the deserters had been killed in attacking this estate and that the Arverni leader and his family was butchered. Though some of the servant of this estate escaped and brought news to some of my singulares stationed in this region.
It was first thought that these were Roman legionnaires attacking for an advance column of a legion. Once the dead bodies of the deserters was dismembered by the local Arverni warriors, they discovered the tattoo’s of the Celtic tribe they have a blood feud with.

I warn you now that their may be action taken by members of the Arveni tribe to Celtic tribes in northwestern Hispania. I had warned the recruiting officers the same thing but he assigned Decurio Tesantius Averius as escorting officer and thought nothing of my warning.

The new recruits are your to train now and the emperor desires them in Germania for his campaign in seven months.

Aragorn Tectosage Volcae,
legati Augusti pro preatore of Aquitania
