Between all the arms used in the ancient world deserve to cite a
type used from the Etruscans. After the fall of Veii, and therefore after the 395 b.C., Titus Livius narrates that the etruscan priests with great sounds launch against roman phalanx a lot of snakers with much poison.
The italian snake called vipera is very dangerous and it is very numerous in the Etruria (odiern Tuscany, Umbria and north Lazio).
