The Romans also after the introduction of the manipolare tactics still maintain the concept of the predisposition of their troops in the three lines of Hastati, Princesps and Triariii.
The Hastati (first line) are the strong soldiers of the roman army, the Princeps (second line) are the old soldiers but with greater experience (the veterans), the Triarii are the soldiers militarily little strong and very rarely they participate to the battle.
Hannibal instead puts in the last line the strong soldiers and with greater experience, those that with him have made the campaign of Italy.

Vorrei fare un’altra considerazione sulla tattica di Annibale alla battaglia di Zama e sulla straordinaria nuova predisposizione delle sue truppe che porta all’introduzione della riserva strategica.

I Romani anche dopo l’introduzione della tattica manipolare mantengono ancora il concetto della predisposizione delle truppe nelle tre linee di Hastati, Princesps and Triariii.
Gli Hastati (first line) sono i soldati più forti fisicamente dell’esercito romano, i Princeps (second line) sono i soldati più anziani ma con maggiore esperienza cioè i veterani, i Triarii sono i soldati militarmente meno forti e raramente partecipano alla battaglia.
Hannibal invece mette nell’ultima linea i soldati più forti e con maggiore esperienza, quelli che con lui hanno fatto la campagna di Italia.
