A place to rant and rave about one of the most beloved English speaking writers since Shakespeare: J.R.R. Tolkien. A place to talk and discuss the bringing to life of this man's vision by Peter Jackson and his New Zealand myth generating crew.

in the movie were those of Viggo Mortensen and Orlando Bloom. I think Orlando delivers one hell of a good elf portrayal. He gives Legolas that inhuman grace and also a sense of purity and wisdom. As for Viggo, he's just wonderful. Recently, I was reading an article about the trilogy where it was mentioned that Viggo was called at the last moment to play the part. This was because the person who had been cast was Stuart Townsend (Lestat in the movie Queen of Damned). But then the director (and I don't know if producers and such) realized that he was too young to play the part, thus enters Mortensen. Elijah Wood also seemed awesome to me in his acting. Hell, most of the actors and actresses were pretty good. I guess Peter Jackson deserves credit for not casting actors for their Hollywood pretty face status but for their talent and ability to fit into the role. Thus is just my humble opinion.
